Is God Really Enough?
I don't listen to much country music (really, I don't), but scanning through channels the other day, I came across a song by Kenny Chesney called "Never Wanted Nothin' More". I don't know the point of the whole song, but toward the end of the song he says he "changed when he found the Lord" and realized that after all the searching in his life he finally came to the place where he never wanted anything more.
I got to thinking about contentment.
I got to thinking about my life and my walk with God.
As I drove down the road, I sensed God asking me some questions.
As you deepen your walk with God today, consider these questions.
Imagine God asking you these personally.
I think he is.

Will you let me be enough for you today?
·
Will you stop striving in your spirit after more?
·
Will you stop trying to find life on your own?
·
Will you lay down the burden of having to make your life all work out and just let me come walk with you?

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest."
- Matthew 11.28
My main thought on this is that contentment is an internal reality, not based on external circumstances. In Jesus Christ, God offers us a peace and joy in the midst of a chaotic, broken world. In the middle of our hungering for more, and while we continue to step into the future, may we find a deep and abiding contentment in Christ along the way.
